It is really easy to get caught up in your regularly scheduled program. We forget that each breath we take means we have a few more seconds of life, seconds that were not promised. Allowing negativity to consume us often feels safe. It feels like a risk to remain hopeful. What would it mean if we all made up our minds to send positive thoughts and energy out into the universe? It would mean an increase in genuine contentment, free flowing inspiration, unsuppressed creativity, less stress, more confidence, thriving relationships, and authentic and deep self-love. 

Here are a few things we should all pencil into our weekly to-do lists in an effort to remind ourselves to enjoy life, seek joy, and remain thankful.

  1. Congratulate yourself on all of your progress thus far.
  2. Smile at 10 people.
  3. Say good morning, good afternoon, or good evening to 7 people.
  4. Ask 5 people how their week is going.
  5. Tell your family in person, on the phone, or through email/text that you love them.
  6. Thank at least one friend for being in your life.
  7. Meditate, reflect, and/or pray.
  8. Work out.
  9. Read an interesting article and share something you’ve learned from that article with someone else.
  10. Hug someone.
  11. Wake up and tell yourself that you are happy to be alive.
  12. Name 2 reasons why this week is better than last week. 
  13. If you have children, tell them how proud you are of them. 
  14. Sing your favorite song in the shower.
  15. Dance as you listen to the radio.
  16. Laugh as much as possible.
  17. Communicate with someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
  18. Love on yourself a little: Get a manicure, play your favorite sport, take a nap, go to the spa, buy yourself a nice present, or cook your favorite meal. 
  19. Put at least 10 dollars aside into a savings account.
  20. Read your favorite book or watch your favorite movie.
  21. Write in a journal or a diary. (I post creative and unique journal prompts on my website for free!)
  22. Start planning a vacation to a place you’ve always wanted to visit. 
  23. Cook a healthy and hearty recipe.
  24. Write down a few affirmations and say them while looking at yourself in the mirror.
